2 months old

I know I say this so often - But I can not believe how the time has flown by. We went for Rylan's 2 month old check up and the doc said everything is great! He weighs 12 lbs. 3 oz. and is 23 inches long. It blew my mind when I saw that he had doubled in weight since he was born. It's hard to believe that he used to be so small. Wow, the time really does just get away from you. We are really enjoying Rylan even more every day....he has started smiling more and laughing. He has noticed his feet, but hasn't really played with them yet. He will just sit and stare at them and get cross-eyed. He is holding his head up more and more on his own and kicks those little legs when he gets mad or frustrated. Rylan is the joy of our lives! I never knew motherhood was this wonderful!

Father's Day 6/21/09

Father's Day was a very special occasion this year, not that it isn't always, but this year was Butch's first Father's Day to be celebrated. Over the past 2 months since Rylan was born he has been such a wonderful Father to Rylan. I could not have asked for anything better. He has been a wonderful example of what a Dad needs to be. I never doubted his capability of being an awesome Father because he has been an amazing husband and leader. I'm so thankful to have such a Godly husband and a Godly father for Rylan to look up to.

Last night as I was putting away the dishes from supper I was watching Butch talk to Rylan and give him a bath...I've never seen such sweet moments. I couldn't imagine my life without these two guys. It's the most amazing thing. What is even more amazing is when Butch comes to get Rylan from me and says "Mom, we're going to pray" (speaking for Rylan of course) - that's one of those moments that makes me realize I'm so blessed. How many Father's can say they take time out of their schedule every night to pray with their kids and wife? God has truly blessed me beyond compare.

Oh yea, to finish my Father's Day post - we went to church Sunday morning and afterwards went to my parents house to wait on them to get back from Florida. We wanted to have dinner with my Dad too; plus my parents were having withdrawals from not seeing Rylan for almost 2 weeks. HAHA. When they got home we went to eat and celebrated together. Mom and Dad brought us back some t-shirts that said "Rylan's Dad" and "Rylan's Mom." They also brought Rylan a onesie with his name and a bear on it and a couple of other outfits for souveniers. So all in all, it was a great day and I just want to say that I have a WONDERFUL DAD - I love you! AND I have a WONDERFUL HUSBAND and FATHER for Rylan - I love you MORE!

Overnight Growth Spurt

My beautiful boy

relaxing

1st time on tummy mat

7 weeks

This coming Friday Rylan will be 2 months old. It is so hard to believe that my baby is growing so fast. I have been looking back at the pictures from the day he was born and it really hurts to see how much he has changed and grown. I know all you other moms out there know what I'm talking about! I still remember him fitting in the crook of my arm and now instead of fitting in the crook, he has just taken over the arm completely! Where does the time go?? When did he decide to start growing?? It's almost as if it happened overnight, because I don't remember any in between. It's like he grew from 6lbs 7oz to an almost 12lbs "just-like-that"! How depressing it is....but I have to say he is a lot more fun and becoming more active and smiling a lot more. He has even laughed - that was the cutest thing ever! You really enjoy them when they are tiny by holding and cuddling them but you want them to grow in a way so they can interact with you and play. But I don't know if I want it that bad!! I love cuddling him and knowing he wants me to. It's the grandest feeling. Soon enough he will be wanting to try his independence and do stuff on his own and it's going to kill me. But I know it will have to come and some point. He will always be my little baby boy though. Nothing will ever change that. No one loves him more than Mommy and Daddy...he's our little sunshine and ray of hope. God truly blessed us when He gave us this little miracle.

Friends & Playdates

On Monday Rylan and I had some visitors at our house! We don't get this very often so we were very excited. Molly, Billie, Kara, Lacie and Kaden came and hang out with us for a while. Lacie wanted to see Baby Rylan and "Ashley's horse". Of course Rylan couldn't get down and play with Kaden yet, but I can't wait until he can! It will be so much fun. Rylan pretty much just lounged around in everyone's arms all afternoon while Kaden crawled around and let me know what I needed to "baby proof" in my house! =) Lacie continued to talk about seeing the horses, so we finally broke down and went out in the heat. Butch got Tripp, our 1 yr old, out for her to pet and she acted kinda scared and wouldn't really pet him. She said "he's scared of me!" It was funny cause she was saying it backwards.

Thank you guys for such a wonderful afternoon!

My Big Boy

Rylan is now 6 weeks, 4 days - it's so hard to believe!! Well we weighed our little Rylan at home last night to see how much he has gained over the past few weeks - you'll never guess!! (Besides Molly, no one would know! ) He weighs a little over 11 lbs! I'm so shocked and sad, but glad that he is gaining. We also checked his length and he has grown a whole 2 inches! So he is 22 1/2 inches long now.

Every day he continues to amaze me. He is holding his head up really good now and has finally started grabbing things with his hands. Today he has realized he has a voice! He will just randomly yell out a sound and it's almost like it surprises him. He is hilarious.

Rylan has finally got on a good schedule at night. He likes to eat around 8:00 pm and go to bed. Then he'll get up around 12 - 1 am to eat. He usually goes right back to sleep and sleeps until about 4:30 am. I feed him and he will sleep until about 8 am and wake for another feeding. By 11 am he usually is ready to get up and hang out with me while I do house chores or whatever. So I am getting a good amount of sleep at night!! Rylan has his nights, as does every child, when they have tummy trouble or just fight sleep, but we survive!

Growing Growing....

His 1st bath in the sink. He loves bath time!

He adores his daddy - can't you tell??

First Smile!

Bundled up after bath time.

We are enjoying Rylan so very much and realizing what a blessing children are. There has never been anything better than parenthood. We know we have tons to learn and go through, but the beginning has been the most amazing experience so far. Rylan has been such a joy and we are so very proud of him. He has started lifting his head on his own a pretty good bit. He has definitely started focusing on things and people. I'm so curious to see how much weight he has gained, but we don't go back to the pediatrician until June 24. I'm not really looking forward to that visit because he will have to get shots!! I am really dreading that part. We'll get through it though.
